Éliou cofounder Duda Teixeira created the natural jewelry company in 2018.

I’ve lived in Miami for years, and my relationship to the city has evolved over time—at this point in my life, I really appreciate it in a deeper way. It’s because I was raised between Brazil and the sea that there is a sense of familiarity in the city: the culture, climate, pace. I am the co-founder and designer of a company rooted in the ocean, and my creative and personal interests are influenced by the environment. Miami may be constantly changing, yet it retains its strong sense of place. I have come to appreciate this more as I get older. —Duda Teixeira, Éliou Cofounder

    What to do:

    Day 1: South Miami

Facade Bakery: Breakfast Spot. A Treat at Facade Bakery

    Facade Bakery

They serve everything delicious. From their matcha cake with cornflakes to fruit yogurt topped with homemade granola (think: textured and layered without being too sweet). The egg dishes are also delicious. It’s always perfectly executed. The space is small, but sets the tone of the day.

    Morning activity: Yoga (or Pilates)

    Mimi Yoga

No matter where I travel, I always try to include a workout. I love a good heated class and Mimi’s Yoga is always the perfect push.

Tremble Coconut Grove is another great option.

The modern treehouse in the jungle feels like a reformer’s class.

Lunch spot: Farm-to-table fare at Krüs Kitchen

    Coconut Grove: An afternoon activity

Share plates for dinner at Fooq

    Fooq’s

Shareable dishes and a focus on good food, with influences from the Mediterranean and Persian cuisines make this a great place to eat. This is a great place to spend a night, not only for dinner but also as a place you can naturally settle in and enjoy the energy.

Evening activity: Nightcaps and a vinyl side

    Lion’s Den

Located upstairs, this vinyl-covered lounge has low ceilings and makes the whole place feel cozier. The room is decorated with Persian rugs, plush seating and brass accents. Only a few tables are present, which keeps the atmosphere intimate. You feel like you are entering someone’s listening room, not a typical Miami nightclub.

Day 2: Biscayne Bay and Beyond

Breakfast spot: Croissants at Flour & Weirdoughs

    Flour & Weirdoughs

Head to Key Biscayne—the drive alone is magical. Since I grew there, crossing the Rickenbacker bridge always brings back memories. It’s a view that never loses its appeal. Start the morning at Flour & Weirdoughs and order the croissant (they’re the kind that shatter when you bite into them). The breakfast sandwiches will hit you exactly where you need them, especially if your skin is a bit sunburned and you are hungover.

    Avoid Miami visits between June-September.

It’s brutally hot—unless your plan is to sit on a beach all day (and even then, the water is way too warm). It’s still mango season if you come in those months.

Morning activity: A beach trip and a sweat session

    Tondo Room

Go straight to the beach after a quick workout at Tondo Room. (Heated Pilates is what I prefer, in case you didn’t know). The easiest way to do this is by posting up on The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne is a quiet, clean and spacious beach. There is a wide, clean beach that feels far from the chaos in Miami Beach. It’s calm in a way that feels very “old Florida”—more families and fewer tourists.

Gramps Getaway offers a lunch spot in Oceanside.

    Gramps

You can go here to escape Miami without leaving the city. Gramps Getaway is a Florida Keys shack with wood paneling, a salty atmosphere, and cold drinks served in plastic cups. Arrive straight from the beach, and stay until sunset.

Raw bar delicacies are available at The Lazy Oyster.

They began as a special pop-up and now are a permanent fixture of the menu.

The Rubell Museum offers a dose of contemporary art in the afternoon.

    Rubell Museum

The Rubell Museum is one of North America’s largest private collections of modern art. You can feel it as you walk from room to room. Many of the pieces were acquired early in an artist’s career, so it’s not just a matter of walking by big names. It’s about seeing the evolution of contemporary art over time.

Dinner: not so classic steakhouse vibes

    Sunny’s Steakhouse

This is currently my favorite place to dine in Miami—whether it’s just for a drink at the bar, or you’re going all in on steak, pasta, and their house rolls, it always hits. It’s a beautiful restaurant under a huge tree. The lighting is perfect, and it makes you feel like you are at a garden party. You’ll find little Florida touches, such as your drink served in an alligator shaped vessel. Whatever you do, don’t leave without ordering the Green Ghoul—and the ice cream sandwich is non-negotiable.

Outdoor seating is always the move… until it’s not.

Check the weather, especially at certain times of the day. Mosquitoes, heat, rain and other factors can all affect your mood.

Zey Zey hosts live music in the evening

    Zey Zey

The open-air cultural space is part music venue, food hall and hangout. It’s the music lineup that makes it so unique. They’re consistently bringing in incredible artists—the kind of names that usually skip Miami—and somehow getting them to play in this intimate, open-air setting.

Day 3: a little bit of everything

Smoothies for breakfast at Under The Mango Tree

    Under the Mango Tree

Miami’s classic. Under the Mango Tree is that easy, feel-good stop you make when you want something fresh and simple (smoothies, açaí bowls, juices). This is one place that has been around forever.

You must have it, but request half a shot. The regular version is like having a heartattack. I don’t even know what they add to it.

Visit the Design District in the morning.

Vecinos, a great place to eat burgers

    Vecinos

Food is great because it’s not trying too hard. That’s why it works. Natural wines are a huge part of their experience. Vecinos makes you feel like a friend is recommending it, and not just something you see 20 times in Instagram. Miami Beach rarely has a sense of discovery. What about the music? What’s the point?

    The Standard Spa: Afternoon activities

    The Standard Spa, Miami Beach

You can cycle between the Ice room, Sauna, and Hammam. Sit by the pool and enjoy a coconut while you tan. Head to Lido Bayside Grill to enjoy drinks on the dock as the sun begins to set. The golden hour is cinematic with the light hitting water and boats drifting along. Everyone is slower, sun-kissed, and enjoying the moment.

Mezcalitas are available at Monterrey Bar before you leave for dinner.

    The Mezcal collection is fantastic.

    Palma: Michelin-recommended meal

    Palma

Palma serves a seasonal tasting menu that changes often, so every visit feels a little different—the food is creative and full of layered, thoughtful flavors without feeling overcomplicated. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, making the experience special without being intimidating. Wine pairings are a must; they really bring a meal together.

Evening activity: Dancing in Medium Cool

    Medium Cool

This spot doesn’t scream for attention—it’s a little moody, perfect when you want energy without the chaos. My last visit was for a vinyl night spun by Hermanos Gutiérrez, and the whole room felt locked in. You’ll definitely be dancing. It’s small but it’s part and parcel of the fun. Everyone is in on the secret.
