The eternal question in the Maldives’ UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Baa Atoll is: beach or above water villa? At Somewhere, the first phase of .Here—the new top-notch offering from Seaside Collection, who run nearby Finolhu—there’s no need to choose. The seven residences are spread across the entire width of the island, with sand on one side and the ladder leading straight to the Indian Ocean on the other. Designed by Singapore’s KulörGroup with interiors by Inge Moore of London’s Muza Lab, the two-story villas are inspired by dhoni boats and Feyli sarongs. The villas have outdoor showers and hammocks on the first level, as well as sun loungers, swings and infinity sky pools suspended from the ceiling. These lead to a waterfall cascading down to a small plunge pool. Interiors are textured and tactile, with voluminous pillows, cloud lamps and fringed curtain. Even though the accommodation is beautiful, guests are here to experience them, and it’s easy to set up. Each residence has a Roohu who arranges everything, from spa treatments to water sports activities (such as a Coral Conservation Course where eco-conscious guests can snorkel the reef with marine biologists). Safar’s open-air restaurant is overseen by Chef Georgios Vasilopoulos. He was previously with Raffles Dubai, Nobu Matsuhisa Mykonos and Raffles Dubai. He has also worked as the personal chef of the Jordanian Royal Family. Although he keeps his experiences under wraps, he doesn’t hesitate to blow guests away with the seafood barbecues he prepares. The Oceaneers Kids’ Club, the Fehi Spa and the Crab Shack are also available to guests of Somewhere. Nowhere’s second phase is designed for total purchase and will be open by April 2026. The resort includes two luxury residences with three and five bedrooms, as well as Fehi Wellness. Starting at $17,918.07. —Divia Thani
