Order your favorite dish Burmese staple – fermented tea leaves salad
Bangkok has a diverse and multicultural restaurant scene. You’d miss out on a lot if you just ate local food. Rangoon Tea House is a Yangon born restaurant which opened an offshoot Bangkok in 2024. In its trendy Thonglor district dining room furnished with pink neon lights and rattan furniture, it offers hyper-creative, small-plate takes on Burmese Cuisine, itself a fusion of Indian, Chinese, Southeast Asian and other influences. Don’t forget to try the fermented leaf salad, which is a Burmese classic. Other dishes include the Myanmar-style nachos served with jackfruit in adobo and the pillowy, buttery brioche with whipped tea leaves and prawn oils. Namsu’s sister restaurant upstairs combines the conviviality and wide-ranging sake collection of a Japanese bar with flavours from Myanmar’s Shan State.
