The hotel is located on the heritage-listed sites of the West Olympia Theatre and Grand Pacific Blue Room. These iconic establishments once shaped Sydney’s social and art scene. By embracing its rich history through bold design, the 25hours Hotel will breathe new energy into an historic Sydney landmark.
The 109 hotel rooms are divided into two categories: ‘Renegades and Dreamers’. On levels 2 and 4 are the Dreamer Rooms, which are bright, airy rooms with soft blue hues and carefully curated lighting. They evoke a feeling of calm and tranquility, evoking the romantic idealist. The Renegade rooms are located on levels 1 and 3. They have a darker tone, bolder carpets, and artwork that channel a rebellious and adventurous spirit.
The design story of the hotel is influenced by the cinematic past of the Theatre. The lobby has been reimagined in a tribute to film and there are pieces scattered throughout the property which evoke the glory days. The brand’s motto, “Every cool city deserves a 25hours hotel”, is reflected in the Sydney debut, which aims to revitalise this historic site with a strong identity and restaurants and bars, that will serve as a neighborhood hub.
The hotel will be home to four venues, each with a distinct identity; a restaurant (The Palomar), wine & cocktail bar (The Mulwray), coffee house (Jacob The Angel), and rooftop bar (Monica). Mitch Orr, the Culinary Director will supervise all venues. Orr is a proud Sydneysider and has deep roots within the city’s dining culture. He brings an edge that resonates well with Sydney’s unique cultural culinary heritage.
The Palomar Studio Paskin’s London venue will be brought to Sydney by a veteran in the industry. Influences from Southern Europe and North Africa will be brought to life by the best Australian products in the 110-seater Restaurant. The MulwrayThe intimate cocktail bar, named after Evelyn Mulwray, the star of 1974’s Chinatown, will feature classic cocktails made by experts, as well as bio-dynamic wine and lesser-known varieties. On the ground floor, café Jacob The Angel After exploring the city, this is the ideal place to recharge and connect.
Rooftop bar MonicaEnnismore’s food and drink studio Carte Blanched will create a lush rooftop oasis that is a modern Sydney’s rhythms and rituals, but filtered through the nostalgic Hollywood of 1960s. Bold patterns and murals from the local area set the mood for lively evenings and relaxed afternoons. Monica is more than just a rooftop bar. It’s a celebration for culture, community and bringing Sydney’s nightlife back.
The 25hours Hotel, located at 1-11 Oxford Street, will be a landmark in the community. It will be a place where people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate their cultures, art and community spirit.
