HomeToGo has completed the purchase of Swiss vacation rental company Interhome. It paid more than $200m for a firm that, according to the German firm, will triple their profitability and allow them to become a software provider that focuses on business-tobusiness.
In an interview, CEO Patrick Andrae explained that the deal highlights HomeToGo’s strategy to focus exclusively on vacation rentals and not expand into other travel services.
“Unlike other companies, we don’t try to expand into verticals like experiences,” he says. “Instead of diversifying what we offer in the marketplace we are doubling down on holiday rentals.”
It is apparent that his mention of Airbnb and other verticals or experiences was a reference to the company.
