You may be closer to one of the top theme parks in the world than you think.
Dollywood, located in the Smoky Mountain Tripadvisor’s latest list ranked the Pigeon Forge region in Tennessee as the number one theme park in the United States. It was also the highest-ranking U.S. park. The destination is popular with families and thrill-seekers. It includes a themepark that features roller coasters and other rides and shows as well as Dollywood’s Splash Country, a 35 acre waterpark.
Dollywood is ranked number one on Tripadvisor. Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Awards In the category of theme parks, Disney’s Magic Kingdom is at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Knoebels amusement resort in Elysburg in Pennsylvania, Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, and Universal’s Islands of Adventure round out the top 5.

Waterbom, located in Kuta in Indonesia, is ranked third in the list of international amusement parks. The first place goes to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, followed by Beto Carrero World, in Brazil. Dollywood was ranked No. 11 worldwide, Dollywood was the only theme park from the United States that made the rankings.

Dollywood’s history dates back to 1961 when the park that is currently Dollywood was opened on the same site. Dolly Parton, a philanthropist and famous performer, partnered with Herschend Family in 1986 to expand the park at the site. It was then aptly named Dollywood.
Dollywood and the wider Pigeon Forge area, home to Dollywood and other attractions, such as shopping, shows and a Titanic-like replica, are just a few of many family and visitor friendly activities.
