NZ Hotel Holdings announced their intention to sell off the nation’s largest hotel portfolio.

NZHH has announced that it will be selling its hotel portfolio across New Zealand. CBRE’s Michael Simpson, Peter HamiltonNick Hill, and, are managing this sale via a campaign of international expressions of interest. The investors’ strategy is to develop high-quality assets, and then reinvest the proceeds in further growth opportunities.

    NZ Hotel Holdings

NZ Hotel Holdings, formed in 2019, is a joint venture between NZ Super Fund (NZ Super Fund), Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group. The partnership’s goal is to create hotel assets which will boost both domestic and foreign tourism in New Zealand.

The portfolio sold includes top Auckland hotels Four Points, QT Auckland as well as Adina Apartment Hotel Britomart. Also included are Rydges Rotorua & Rydges Wellington as well as Sofitel Queenstown & Spa and BreakFree on Cashel Hotel in Christchurch.

New Zealand Tourism in the Future

New Zealand’s government has been a strong supporter of tourism in the country. International tourism and hotel demand is expected to rise with new campaigns aimed at high-population, high-value markets like India, China and the USA.

Marcus Reinders is the Chief Executive of NZHH. He believes that tourism has returned to growth and the time is right for an investor who wants scale, geographical diversity, as well as a comprehensive coverage of New Zealand’s key markets.

This sale represents the most comprehensive and largest portfolio of investment grade hotels to ever be brought to market in New Zealand. Travelers are attracted to New Zealand because of its diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. This portfolio caters to both business and leisure travelers.

The International Expressions of Interest Campaign closing date for the Portfolio is Thursday, 26th of June 2025.
