    Location: Figueres, Girona

Imagine your ideal Spanish villa. It will likely look like this. The villa is located just an hour north of the bustling city. Barcelona, this masia is squirreled away in a quiet corner of Figueres—the ancient town best known as Salvador Dalí’s birthplace. It is perched on the edge a private nature preserve, surrounded by high gorges, vast fields, and the Pyrenees mountains in the distance. The villa, a converted mill, has the original stone wheel, tunnels, and water flow that would come from the nearby streams still intact. It now functions as a bodega and wine cellar where guests can book an evening of wine tasting. Upstairs, flagstone floors, wooden beams, stone archways, and antique furnishing preserve the building’s history alongside more modern comforts–there’s a cinema room, a cozy living room with a giant fireplace, and a pool table next to a well-stocked bar area.

The perfect size for large groups family reunionsThe villa can accommodate up to 18 people in the main house, garden house and a small cottage on request. Enjoy lazy days by the oval swimming pool, playing tennis (ping-pong is also available), preparing paella or barbecues on the alfresco cooking area or relaxing on a bench near the lake while watching swallows and turtles play. As the sun sets behind the mountains you can enjoy a glass of vermouth on your roof terrace while watching fireflies illuminate the nearby woodland. —Olivia Morelli
