Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Soliteight Hotel Projects SA have announced plans to bring the Super 8 brand to Spain and Portugal, aiming to open 40 new hotels over the next decade.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Soliteight Hotel Projects SA have signed an exclusive development agreement to introduce the Super 8 brand to Spain and Portugal. Soliteight will be the hotel development company and investment company that develops and operates the 40 new hotels in the next decade.
Super 8 is known for its quality, hospitality and value. The brand will be introduced to Spain, Portugal and other countries in response to a growing number of budget-conscious tourists in these nations and an increasing demand for reliable and high-quality economy accommodation.
The first of these hotel will open in Leiria (Portugal) in the final quarter of 2027. Other locations for development are being planned in Tier 1 and 2 cities. These include key travel hubs including airports and busy retail areas. They also include popular transport routes and locations along major transportation routes.
The Super 8 brand is being brought to Spain and Portugal as a result of a strategic decision. This move was driven by the booming tourism industry, changing travel trends and an increasing demand for affordable, quality accommodations. Spain is expected to welcome 94 millions international visitors by 2024. Portugal will also see a significant increase in tourism. Spain’s strong performance in the economy with a GDP growth of 3.2% that same time, further fuels business and domestic travel, especially to secondary cities and emerging countries.
The Super 8 By Wyndham offers reliable, affordable, and high-quality lodging. Spain and Portugal are behind other European countries in terms of branded economy hotel brands, with a gap of 10% in brand penetration. This is despite a 142% rise in RevPAR from 2019 to 2019.
