As frequent travelers, Travel + Leisure Our team spends lots of time at airports and on planes. It’s obvious that we are attuned to the latest travel trends. popular travel outfits The following are some examples of how to use trending luggage. Recent trends are worth mentioning: masking.

You can also find out more about the following: CDC recommends Wearing masks is recommended when respiratory viruses or severe illnesses are spreading in your area. We’ve seen a lot of masks on recent flights. travelers masking upWith the increase in reported cases of measles, whooping coughThen, there’s even tuberculosisThis raises the question, are we at an increased risk of getting sick while we travel and should we wear masks on flights. I asked two medical professionals to weigh in.

According to Dr. John Dooley, MD. Although there are still some risks, healthy people do not need to wear a mask when traveling. “I don’t recommend that people wear masks when flying, but if they can reduce the risk of catching a respiratory illness I am fine with it,” Dr. Dooley said. Dr. Dooley says that there is a “not-insignificant” chance that someone who is coughing and sick on the flight will spread that illness to others. Wearing a mask can give you peace of mind.

Dr. Dooley also adds, “The majority of respiratory infections are not transmitted on planes.” You’re more likely to be exposed once you reach your destination—at a restaurant, museum, or large gathering, for example.

Dr. Ken Perry, MDMasks might not be as protective as we once believed, but they are still effective. Masking up is a smart idea for people who are more vulnerable. Dr. Dooley said that wearing a face mask is advisable for vulnerable patients.

Dr. Perry concurs that special precautions are needed for immunocompromised patients. He says that patients with organ transplants, as well as those undergoing chemotherapy are included in this group. They are “far more susceptible” to infectious diseases.

Both doctors reject the idea that extra precautions should be taken due to recent cases of measles and whooping cough as well as tuberculosis. The doctors all agree that there is a low risk. Travelers can still learn more about the risks of various destinations using the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s travel information guide Resource.

Masks can bring you peace of mind when traveling. Dr. Perry told me that travel reduces stress, and increases the positive neurotransmitters within the brain. “The truth is, if wearing a mask allows a person to go on vacation when otherwise they would stay home, it’s a way to achieve a beneficial end.”

We’ve got a great selection of masks for you, whether you are immunocompromised or a nervous traveler. Or, if you always sit next to someone who is coughing, you may be in need of a mask. CDC-approved mask Amazon.com

This mask is designed for blocking 95 percent of airborne particle. one reviewer Writes: “It is comfortable enough that I sometimes forget I am wearing it.”

Dr. Perry believes that masks can be more beneficial in preventing viruses than harmful air contaminants. You can use this mask for both air travel and for destinations with high levels of pollution.
