With 13 million others who are chronically online, I zoomed into the ring to try and work out where the engagement photo shoot had taken place. But soon, my thoughts turned to the most exciting part of any wedding—the honeymoon. What will be the destination of the Internet’s royal couple for the most important holiday of their life? Will they choose a low-key island with no electricity, or will they seek out a super secluded, private one? They might return to their favourite holiday spot or go for a Euro summer. We can almost guarantee that wherever they decide to go, it will set off a trend. romantic getaways to that location—so I asked our team of travel editors to weigh in with guesses, ideas, and recommendations.
Lake Como in Italy
It doesn’t matter if you’re a billionaire celebrity power couple or an ordinary spouse-to-be—the romance and allure of the Italian lakes is everlasting. A holiday that feels far removed from reality but has plenty of activities and things to do is my bet—and I think Travis’ golden retriever energy and Taylor’s wide-eyed wonder of the world lend themselves nicely to a safari honeymoon. Which is why a far-flung resort on a private island would be a wise choice—a place where they can decamp and go unbothered by the outside world, which will inevitably have been riled into a frenzy by their preceding nuptials. The story goes that actor Marlon Brando first arrived on the 18-isle atoll of Tetiaroa by water—as in, he swam ashore. In 1962, while scouting locations to use in his movie Mutiny on the Bounty his canoe flipped and he arrived on the atoll where the owner of the island welcomed him but with a firearm. What the Hollywood actor acquired and transformed into a favorite hideaway, is now maintained by his family as a resort. Taylor would have appreciated this kind of heritage. While they could afford to buy out the property, their discreet clientele wouldn’t require such measures.
Utah
Taylor and Travis’s trip to Big Sky Montana is a part of the US that’s known for its beautiful landscape and dramatic scenery. This was a great way to experience the local area in style, without sacrificing comfort. With a couple as famous as these two, they will undoubtedly be looking for a good dose of peace and quiet while on honeymoon—a place to get away from the public eye – and what better place to do so than Amangiri In Utah? Where would you take a woman who is likely to have visited nearly every country on earth for the most important trip of her entire life? It’s a remote location, of course. We know Taylor doesn’t shudder at the idea of the cold (in fact, she’s been known to romanticize autumn and winter on many occasions) and she wrote and recorded Folklore (one of her best albums, in my opinion) in isolation during the pandemic, so she can certainly thrive in a quiet environment – particularly as she’ll have a busy few months ahead promoting her upcoming album. Swifties knew Taylor was We were as astonished by the view as if we had been in Paris. And where better for the upcoming TikTok FYP’s ‘royal wedding’ couple to spend their honeymoon than the city of love? I imagine them sipping on chocolat chaud at Les Deux Magots—I think we can safely assume Taylor would love the café littéraire’s history steeped in art and philosophy. He knows how to dance, and she knows Aristotle. It might be the perfect place to write some TS13 songs. A walk along the Seine or a trip to Jardin du Luxembourg, followed by dinner at Carboni’s or French classic Le Verre Volé, sounds like a Lover Please send me an itinerary.
