What are the best neighborhoods to visit in Auckland city?
Parnell has always been my favourite place. My mother owned an atelier/studio in the Axis building when I was young. It is one of Auckland’s most beautiful buildings. The rose gardens are nearby. I spent hours there as a teenager. St. Stephen’s Chapel sits on a hill where I used to dream of getting married. Rosie is still my favorite café in town. I like to have tea and Afghan chocolate biscuits. It’s still where I go for breakfast.

A New Zealand beach’s beauty is in finding a spot to yourself along its long shorelines. Piha has black sand and is located outside Auckland. It is wild and authentic. As a child, my best friend had a home there. We would sleep in our sleeping bags under the stars. It is very relaxed and Kiwi. Lots of surfers, and surf lifeguards. There are no lounges or restaurants. Just a corner shop. Sunsets are spectacular. Herne Bay Beach in the city is my favourite. It’s small and is located at the very end of a beautiful street. The beach is shaded with large trees, and nobody knows it. Once I landed in the airport and drove there.

What is the best day trip you can take from Auckland?
Just up the coast, we head to Leigh or Matakana. At Leigh we’ll hop between Pākiri and Otari beaches with a cooler and umbrella and set up for the day. The most beautiful bakery in Matakana is called Ringawera BakerThe bakery is known for its incredible croissant sandwiches, quiches and breads. The city also boasts a great surf shop and a farmers market.

Napier is located in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay area. It’s a place that more people should be aware of. The stunning Art Deco buildings and nearby wineries are located on the coast. It’s like it was from another era. It’s like a secret treasure. I love to wander around.

I like to have a drink at the bar. Amano Auckland central. The open kitchen is easy to use, fast and allows you to watch the chefs at work. Daphnes in Ponsonby The restaurant serves good Mediterranean food on shared plates with a modern design. Clare and Joost used to be the owners of the great Odettes Eatery. You can’t beat Leigh Eats For fish and chips, it’s an hour away from the city.
