How to get there and around
You can fly to Paphos or Larnaca via mainland Europe, but there are no nonstop flights from the US. Ercan Airport is not a recommended airport to fly into. It is not regarded as a legal entry point by the Republic of Cyprus. Renting a car makes it easier to travel around the island, as it is relatively small. Cyprus is a left-hand drive country, and many rental agreements forbid you to cross the Green Line with your car. You can do it in a taxi but if you book with a tour company, they will take care of all the details.

What to Do in Nicosia
You can see both sides of the old city by crossing the Green Line on Ledra Street. In the southern half, the old city offers a few highlights. Hamam OmeryeA 450-year old bathhouse was restored in the early 2000s. Selimiye Mosque is a converted Gothic cathedral that was reopened by the Ottomans in 2025, after an impressive restoration.
