The long, hot summer days are just around the corner. We asked seven experts to give their recommendations on where you should go for a summer getaway. They all agreed on the same gem in the Adriatic: Croatia.

Croatia is not a secret destination. According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics the tiny nation has experienced a dramatic increase in tourism. nearly 20 million people arriving in 2023It represents an almost 10-percent increase over the previous year. Yet, the country continues to attract travelers with its unique blend of Mediterranean coast, historic towns, and underrated island.

Edward FramptonFell, general manager of the hotel chain at Top VillasShared with Travel + Leisure. While the Split Riviera, Dubrovnik, and Hvar remain top picks, Frampton-Fell noted that more surprising destinations like Korčula, often referred to as a “mini Dubrovnik,” are now firmly in the spotlight.

“Korčula offers equally breathtaking architecture, scenery, amazing beaches, and cultural experiences, but with fewer crowds … it’s no surprise that it’s gaining recognition.”

Darijo Saric, CEO of VIP Holiday Booker, agreed, noting that “Korčula is definitely our top pick for summer 2025.”

The island has a lot of sunshine and is perfect for a vacation in the warm climate. It receives an average of 2,700 hours of sun a yearThe perfect combination of Venetian architecture and sandy beaches, combined with hiking through pine forests.

“It’s also supposedly the birthplace of explorer Marco Polo,” Saric added, noting the island’s thriving wine scene, particularly Pošip, is also a draw. “A couple of years ago, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted visiting Korčula and enjoyed lobster on the small islet of Vrnik.”

However, Korčula isn’t the only destination in Croatia that’s getting some much-deserved praise.

Jessica Parker founder of Trip Whisperer, said. Parker advises travelers to forego a car in favor of a boat to explore the country. Let a travel adviser make all the arrangements. You can travel in style on a motorboat, catamaran, or other vessel.

Many travelers choose to do just that.

Mitja Mirtic is the founder and CEO of a yacht charter company. Goolets, shared. “Our extensive fleet is available throughout Europe. The yachts that cruise in Croatian waters for summer 2025 are in high demand.”

Mirtic noted that people are also seeking to visit less touristed parts of Croatia for their visit, citing Korčula as a top trend. “It is becoming a must visit for many guests.”

Michelle Slater and Linda Burch are both group tour managers. Fox World TravelThey also mentioned that their clients were increasingly attracted to the Dalmatian Coast and especially the medieval towns Split and Dubrovnik for their beauty and affordability. There are also endless adventure opportunities. They said that the region “offers both luxury and authentic experiences, whether you’re sailing along Istria’s coast, tasting wine in Istria or exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites.”

Hvar is a great place to visit. Gordana Tomicic, President of the Board of Management at Suncani Hvar HotelsThe island is in high demand, especially among U.S. travelers, Canadians, Australians, and UK visitors. Tomicic stated that “July-August remain our peak seasons, with guests attracted to the island’s vibrant ambience, perfect weather and lively beach bars, events and festivals.” This year we have seen an increase in premium bookings. Personalized experiences like custom excursions, private transfers and unique Hvar offers such as vineyard tours, exclusive access to the beach, and sunset boats are amongst the most popular.

Joe Cronin President of International Citizens InsuranceThe Dalmatian Coast of Croatia is one the most popular destinations in Croatia, according to. [this year]”Especially the towns of Split, and Dubrovnik where clear water and breathtaking architecture are abundant.” It’s time to book your trip.
