    • Pharrell Williams officially opened Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach. The $350 million complex includes a surf and entertainment area.
    • Wavegarden Cove, the park’s first wave lagoon in North America, can produce up to 1,000 waves an hour for all levels of skill.
    • Guests can also enjoy dining, shopping, and a 5,000-capacity performance venue—with more attractions to debut soon in the coming months.

    Atlantic Park opened in Virginia Beach last month after years of anticipation and planning. The park marks a new chapter on the city’s historic shoreline. Pharrell’s $350 million mixed-use project, located just steps from the Atlantic Ocean and backed by the local icon, is a perfect fit for the city, which is renowned as the birthplace East Coast Surfing.

    “The Energy of the Earth” new surf lagoon and beach club atmosphere Amanda Jarratt – deputy city manager of Virginia Beach – says that the new attraction builds on the deep surf culture of our city. By combining this modern attraction, with chic dining, retail, and entertainment options it welcomes visitors to explore our coastal town in any season.

    Atlantic Park Surf is the anchor of this entertainment district. In the lobby of Atlantic Park Surf, you can see six excavated surfboards from the site. This is a playful nod to Atlantic Park’s historic past. The concert venue The Dome has been renovated during construction and can now accommodate up to 5,000 guests.

    Covering nearly three acres, the surf park has a 2.67-acre Wavegarden Cove lagoon—the first of its kind in North America—that can generate up to 1,000 waves per hour. Surfers have the option to ride over 25 different types of waves, ranging from one-foot gentle swells up to seven-foot high waves. Each session lasts under an hour. Participants can view video highlights through the park’s media tools.
