US: Lifestyle luxury brand Viceroy Hotels & Resorts will launch The Harriman in June 2026, a new-build Idaho hotel and residence resort.
The Harriman, located in Ketchum at the southeast corner Main Street and River Street East, near Bald Mountain’s River Run Base, will feature 73 hotel suites and 12 penthouses on one level.
The full-service spa includes a fitness center, treatment rooms and an indoor thermal pool with a cold plunge. There is also a sauna, steam room, observatory, and a terrace bar. The resort will also have a restaurant and bar, café, ski concierge, a seasonal terrace and bar, as well as a meeting and event space.
The Harriman Resort is named for W. Averill Harriman. He was the chairman of Union Pacific Railroad and helped create Sun Valley Resort, which opened in 1936. Harriman wanted a US resort centred on European-style sports, accessible by Union Pacific’s national rail network.
Andrew Blank, the majority owner of The Harriman said: “The Harriman pays tribute to Sun Valley’s past but also shapes its future.” We want this place to be remembered for its history, while also creating something lasting to last generations. This project is very personal to me. “My family is connected to Sun Valley since over 50 years. And The Harriman will celebrate Mr. Harriman’s legacy as well as the Wood River Valley.”
Jack Bariteau is a real estate developer, managing member of a development company. He said, “The Harriman was envisioned by me for many decades and Viceroy’s involvement in bringing this vision to life has been an incredible milestone.” Viceroy’s involvement in the project ensures that Sun Valley will have a destination which reflects its heritage and natural beauty.
