    • The study says that the value-driven traveler will be responsible for driving growth in the cruise industry.

According to an international study conducted by MMGY Travel intelligence in partnership Travelzoo, 55% of cruisers are likely to book trips for the years 2025-2026. The cruise industry has a bright future.

In the study, respondents came from the U.S.A. and UK. Canada and Germany accounted for over two thirds of the world’s cruise market. Ocean cruising is a popular choice. However, expedition cruises and river cruising are also gaining in popularity.

    Booking Preferences and Trends

According to the survey, 19% of respondents have already booked cruises for 2025-2026 and 55% plan to do so in the future. This indicates that cruise industry is expected to continue growing. Research also revealed that value, well-being and immersive experiences are the top priorities for travelers.

    Perceptions and expectations

The study found that 43% of respondents consider standard cruises to be once-in a lifetime, luxurious experiences. Luxury is defined differently in different markets. American travelers are more concerned with fine dining and luxury suites while younger generations value cutting-edge technology.

    Cost considerations

Cruise bookings are hindered by the perception that they offer good value. This is true in all markets. Travelers looking for an affordable cruise option are motivated by bundle offers, early-booking discounts and extended stays at destinations.

    Emerging Trends

In addition, the report identified trends like increased solo travel and cruising with friends. Although partners and families comprise 75% or the cruise travel party, 20% are interested in traveling solo or with friends. This trend suggests that new cruise formats are possible.
