As I walked into the new home, there was only one thing on my mind. SLS BarcelonaAdd more color to your wardrobe.
From that very first step inside, it was clear that this is not your standard luxury hotel—it’s more of a vibrant playground. Located in the waterfront enclave of Port Fòrum, the hotel exudes a youthful energy that’s equal parts classy and frisky.
“SLS Barcelona offers all the luxury, glamour and glitz of a grand hotel. It also has a playful charm and wit that are its own. [SLS] Ignacio Rodriguez is the general manager at the hotel. Travel + Leisure.
The glam moments are created by decor elements. For example, the grand chandelier hanging from the ceiling is slightly tilted to the right and up. This signals that the “swinging from the chandeliers mentality” is not only welcome but encouraged.
The hotel, designed by Rockwell Group AvroKO and AIME Studios is full of dramatic lighting and opulent detail, partly inspired by the Mediterranean Sea. One of the many Instagram-worthy moments at the hotel is a neon-lit hot pink hallway that leads to a restaurant. The hotel’s pool area is decorated with cabanas. Its rooftop pool will be open in the near future and has the potential to quickly become Barcelona’s coolest place. The bathrooms in the common areas are full of quirky details and tiles that made me want my own bathroom to be redone.

Enjoying the Food
SLS Hotels
If you only have one reason for booking a stay at SLS Barcelona it is this: The food there is absolutely spectacular. The hotel will have six different restaurants and bars once it is completed. Lora, designed by AvroKO, channels the relaxed coastal charm of the Mediterranean, where seasonal dishes are prepared in a wood oven and coal-fired grill—think charred flatbreads, perfectly seasoned seafood, and shareable plates. Don’t skip the muhammaraThe dip was so good I requested seconds and almost went for thirds.
L’Anxova Divina is another option that pays homage to Barcelona’s famous tapas culture by serving bite-sized treats. According to the hotel’s team, its design is a nod to Antoni Gaudí’s iconic architecture, channeled in the undulating curves of its banquets and splashy decor. Ask for a sunny terrace table during warmer weather.
At Deluxe, the lobby bar and lounge, guests can have a morning coffee, a lunch or an evening cocktail. Coral is a poolside lounge that offers drinks for sunny days and any frozen concoctions you can imagine.
