In August, the town announced it would host its first Pancake Festival with Partner CultureFix, a local art organization The date is set for Sept. 26-27, 2025. It’s only fitting that the city is known as the “Pancake Capital of the World”, thanks to the number of pancake houses it has.
Edward Harris, the CEO of Visit Williamsburg said in a press release obtained by Travel + Leisure. Our hope is that it becomes an annual event that brings together residents and also attracts visitors from far and wide to enjoy all that our destination has on offer.
This two-day festival will be packed with “delicious foods, lively entertainment and family-friendly activities that bring the community and visitors closer together.” The event kicks off with National Pancake Day on Friday, which will include an evening of pancakes. (Who doesn’t like breakfast for dinner?) Live entertainment is provided at the Hellenic Center. Guests can wear their favorite PJs from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. A “Pancake Lab”, sponsored and organized by Capitol Pancake HouseFace painting and a zone for children to decorate their pancakes.
On Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm, the pancake party will relocate to Duke of Gloucester Street during the Farmers Market. This will include more family friendly activities such as the Sausage sprint, a dachshund race, children’s books themed around pancakes and the World Pancake Eating Championship where professional eaters including Miki Sudo, Nick Wehry, will compete.
Aside from the festival, there is another exciting event. Visit Williamsburg in conjunction with the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce is launching the Pancake Trail To help both locals and tourists explore Williamsburg’s most popular breakfast spots. Download the app, check-in at the participating restaurants (including Shorty’s Diner, Astronomical Pancake House and Southern Pancake Waffle House) and earn points towards a Tshirt and tickets to the Friday night festival.
