    LinkedIn reported that “a growing tech scene and the booming insurance sector are helping Grand Rapids redefine their industrial identity, while attracting a wave young professionals due to its bustling downtown and proximity to Lake Michigan.” The report also noted that manufacturing, health care and professional services are the most popular industries in the area, with Corewell Health, Grand Valley State University and Meijer as the leading employers.

    Workers can expect to earn an average of $65,235 per year and a home listing average of $524195. The price-to income ratio is slightly higher, but according to Apartment AdvisorThe average rent of a 1-bedroom apartment is $1250. It’s a more affordable choice.

    LinkedIn is the source for this list. explained that it partnered with Economic Graph to define “on the rise” cities, which included migration data, along with “year-over-year growth across each metric: where talent is landing, where roles are opening, and where people are moving (relative to leaving).” 

    LinkedIn also analyzed the destination at a metropolitan area level instead of just the city to “better reflect the way people actually live and/or work today.” 

    LinkedIn’s job applications have grown by 45 percent in the last year, with 11,000 applications being filed every minute, according a statement from the company. Travel + Leisure.
