    This New Jersey Beach Just Named as One of the U.S.’s Most Underrated Beaches

    The summer of 2012 has been one of the hottest on record for many American cities. And the extreme temperatures have everyone thinking the same thing—it’s time to head to the beach.

    Instead of going to the same beaches as everyone else, why not find a hidden gem? BoatBooker’s team knows exactly where to head. Gunnison Beach at Sandy Hook in New Jersey was a special beach that made it to the top after some research. 

    You may wonder how any person can be able to do this. beach in New Jersey (one the most populous states in the nation) still considered a hidden jewel? This one has a big asterisk on it: a part of the beach is clothing-optional. A portion of Area G, or South Gunnison.

    The statement reads: “While this area has not been designated as a clothing-optional area, this activity is not prohibited.” National Park Service. “The Park acknowledges that this use is popular and has a long history and informs visitors unfamiliar with the activity via signs.”

    If you do decide to go to the beach in your birthday suits, then be aware that, as the NPS warns: “Nudity outside of the traditional area may be considered disorderly conduct.”

Because the National Park Service manages the beach, it’s exempted from the public nudity laws of the state. The only nudist beach allowed in the state can be crowded, especially during summer.

    11. Ocean Isle Beach: North Carolina (tie for 10th)
    12. Salt Creek Beach: California
    13. Gulf Shores Beach, Alabama
    14. Beach Circle #4 – Beach Access: Texas
    15. Cape Hatteras National Seashore: North Carolina
    16. Kirby Beach in California
    17. Funston Beach, California
    18. Carolina Beach, North Carolina
    19. Santa Ana River County Beach River Jetties: California (tie for 18th)
    20. Coquina Beach is located in North Carolina
    21. Little Corona Beach: California (tie for 20th)
    22. Crissy Field South Beach: California (tie for 20th)
