Global Citizen Solutions, an organization that specializes on residency and citizenship through investment, has released a report that gives India the honor. The company is Global Digital Nomad Report 2025It was shared with Travel + LeisureTo create its list, analyzed the costs of coworking, housing, groceries, transportation, and other essential living expenses. Housing, groceries, transport, and other living expenses were taken into consideration.
Delhi and Mumbai have become popular tourist destinations. IndiaGoa is a popular destination thanks to its vibrant culture and low cost of living. Goa’s attractiveness is due to its amazing beaches, UNESCO-recognized churches, and unique Portuguese-influenced cuisine.

The report looks at digital nomad Visa programs were launched in 64 countries, and 91 percent have been nomad programs since 2020.
India was the first affordable destination to live and work from home. Then came Ecuador, Malaysia, Indonesia and Colombia.
Iceland and Norway are at the other end of spectrum. They have a high ranking in terms of quality of living metrics but it is expensive to work and live there.
The Netherlands was the winner in terms of quality of living, which took into account a mix of public infrastructures, safety, as well as cultural appeal.
The Americas has the most digital nomad programs with 36 percent, followed by Europe with 33 percent and Asia with 9 percent.
Some digital nomad programs offer temporary stays but few provide long-term opportunities. Global Citizen Solutions discovered that 14 of the countries analysed offer a pathway to permanent residence and three provide a direct route to citizenship.
