To determine the most expensive cities in the United States, GOBankingRates analyzed 91 top destinations as determined by Travel + Leisure Reporting, and narrowed the list down to 55 cities. Numbeo’s Cost of Living tool and Census data were used to determine the cost for two adult visitors to spend three nights in a particular location, including meals at mid-range restaurants as well as inexpensive ones, and domestic beer. Also, average flight and hotel prices were taken into consideration.
