Industry reports claim that Norwegian Cruise Line cancelled dozens of cruises between 2026-2027. On social media, travelers have described their own experiences of being notified that a cruise was cancelled.
Cruise passengers should review their itinerary carefully before embarking on a trip.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) recently advised customers it would be canceling dozens of sailings in 2026 and 2027.
As many as 41 different cruises were canceled, as Norwegian modified its schedules for a “fleet redeployment,” according to customer letters viewed by Travel + Leisure. The affected cruises are the Norwegian Prima, which was expected to leave out of New Orleans between Nov. 15, 2026 and March 28, 2027, and the Norwegian Breakaway, which was set to to depart from San Juan from Nov. 8, 2026 through March 28, 2027.
On social media, cruise passengers expressed frustration with the itinerary changes. In one post on RedditA person celebrating the 25th anniversary of their partner’s retirement from military service would have to change their itinerary. The user says, “This trip is special for my family and I want everyone to have a good time.”
Many travelers have also expressed their opinions about the NCL route cancellations and changes in Cruise Critic. message boardThe change is “disappointed”.
One person commented, “I get that things happen. However, we are a bit bummed since we used a coupon for 20% off my husband’s account. We can no longer use it.” “Oh well.”
According to a letter sent to guests and partners, even though the cruises were canceled and refunded passengers could rebook similar itineraries starting after August 8,2025.
Norwegian apologized in their letters for the inconvenience and disappointment that they had caused. “We’re here to ensure that this process is as seamless as possible.”
Cruise cancellations are not a new phenomenon. NCL canceled cruises for 2025A spokesperson from the cruise line confirmed it to T+L previously in April 2024. The cruise line offered a 10% discount on any future bookings and advised customers to contact the customer service team.
