You’ve always wanted to move abroad, but you haven’t yet found the right place. You can do that, and one place will even give you a handsome sum of money to make it happen.

Ireland launched its launch in 2023. “Our Living Islands” programParticipants can move to one of the beautiful islands for about $90,000.

“Our coastal Islands and their Communities are an integral part to the fabric of rural Ireland.” They are also a part of Ireland’s history and culture.

It added that these islands are just off the coast, but they are “cut daily by the tide”, and “aren’t connected to the mainland via a causeway or bridge, have a permanent year-round population, and aren’t in private ownership.”

One of the main goals of the program is to re-populate these islandsCreating conditions for young people to move or remain in the islands where they can live, work, and raise their families, is a priority.

The program comes with some very important caveats. There are some important caveats to be aware of with the program. Euro News explained, the government will shell out a little more than €80,000 to those willing to move, however, that money must be used to purchase and revitalize abandoned properties through the Irish government’s Property Refurbishment Grant Scheme Croí Cónaithe. The property must have been built before 1993, and abandoned for atleast two years. It must also function as a real home. Airbnb is not allowed.

Forbes Arranmore is one of the islands included in the program. It’s located off the coast County Donegal. The Wild Atlantic Way is also included. There’s also Clare Island off the coast of County Mayo, the quiet Bere Island, and Inis Mór, one of the Aran Islands.

Here’s what Americans need to be aware of: This is not an immigration program. According to International LivingYou must have Irish residency to participate. You can obtain this visa in a few different ways. For example, you can apply for the “Stamp 0”, which is aimed at retirees. However, you will need to show proof that you earn more than $50,000 a yearly minimum. dual citizenship through descent. For this, you must prove that either your grandparent or parent was an Irish national at the time you were born.

If you have the means, it might be worth it to keep these beautiful islands alive.

“‘Our Living Islands,’ contains 80 action plans that aim to empower island communities and their residents. Former minister Heather Maud Humphreys said, “It’s about improving housing and access to essential services, such as health and education. Delivering high-speed internet and developing outdoor amenities will increase tourism and support island communities.” shared in 2023. “It means ensuring that our islands are equipped with the right infrastructure for water, roads and piers. The island communities will be supported to create remote working facilities that allow people to live and work within their community. And I’m particularly pleased to have worked with my colleague, the Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien, to provide additional funding under Croí Cónaithe to support islanders who wish to turn vacant and derelict properties into homes. ‘Our Living Islands’ is an ambitious ten-year policy–recognizing our commitment to supporting our island communities so that they have a bright and sustainable future.”
