Spain The United States ranked first in the world for overall quality of living. according to a new study from InterNationsAn expat community. The study revealed that the country was so loved by expats, they were happy to live there. This compares with just 67 percent worldwide.
Expats in Spain love the weather, culture, nightlife and recreational sports opportunities, all of which are rated first in their respective categories. Spain also scored highly for its quality, affordable health care system and public transportation.
Spain has consistently been the number one country since 2022.
United Arab Emirates ranked second on the list, thanks to the feeling of safety among expats, the “availability” of healthcare, the positive perception of political stability and the variety in dining options. Panama was ranked third for its culture, nightlife, sports opportunities, leisure and sporting options. The Central American nation, which was ranked no.16 last year, has now cracked the top five. Last year, the country ranked 16th.
Five categories were used to measure the overall quality of living: health, safety, leisure, travel, transit and climate. A country had to have 50 respondents to be included in the survey.
The top 10 countries with the highest quality of life are mostly European. Austria was ranked 4th, Luxembourg 5th, Czechia 8th, and Portugal 10th.
Kuwait was at the opposite end of the spectrum, ranking last overall and in two categories specifically: climate and environment and leisure options. The study found that 70 percent expats relocate to Kuwait for work-related reasons.
