The 30th of July is a day to celebrate. GOBankingRates released a new study The report uncovered the fastest growing retirement “boomtowns”, defined as areas with populations that grew by at least 20 percent since 2018.
The personal finance company looked at cities that had at least 7,500 residents 65 years and older. They then focused on cities that showed a higher percentage change than the national average in one- and five year changes in the retirement age population. After examining the data, GOBankingRates ranked Leesburg in Florida as the U.S. retirement community with the fastest growth.
The city is 45 miles northwest from Orlando. There are 38,000 residents, and 28.9 per cent of them are older than 65. In the five years since Leesburg began to see a rise in adults of retirement age, this growth has been impressive.
Even though it is located in the middle, this small city is still a paradise for water lovers. Leesburg is located on the best lakefrontage in the state and boasts to be the nation’s best bass fishing region. The bustling downtown is full of adorable restaurants and shops, as well as a variety of events that everyone can enjoy, such the annual BikefestThe largest motorcycle rally in the World.
Goodyear, Arizona is second on the list, and its 65+ age group has grown by 54.1 percent in the past few years.
Florida was the only state to make this list. As GOBankingRates pointed out, 12 cities from the Sunshine State were included in the top 20, including Edgewater (No.3) Tavares No.5 Fort Pierce No.7 Clermont No.8 Port Saint Lucie Winter Springs Pensacola 21 Cape Coral (No.24), West Palm Beach No. 38, Palm Coast (No. 41) and Ormond (No. 49).
