Built in 1870, Glenapp Castle is a 21-suite Relais & Château property with sweeping views of the sea and 110 acres of gardens and woodland. The “bovine Safari” is a heartwarming experience that takes place in a weatherproof, specially-designed trailer. Guests can brush the red cow coats or even cuddle some of the most affectionate members.

After spending some time with the Highlanders guests will be treated to freshly baked goods from the farmhouse kitchen, as well as tea and coffee. The Highlanders send them home with a goody bag full of Highland cow souvenirs.
The pastoral excursions will be hosted by Janet and Neale McQuistinThey have combined experience of 108 years in farming. Janet McQuistin has been farming since 1624 in southwestern Scotland. The farm of the McQuistins is located within the Galloway & Southern Aryshire UNESCO Biosphere. This area has been recognized for its exemplary practices and human-wildlife relationships.
A press release from Glenapp Castle states that the McQuistins add “a personal touch” to the cow safari. Due to their daily interaction with the Highland fold the McQuistins are able to provide guests with all the information about the cows’ social hierarchy and personalities. Glenapp Castle
Private tours of the Highland Fold are reserved for guests of Glenapp Castle. Anyone can reserve a space on a group tour through the farm’s website. The cost of “Glenapp Coos and Ewes,” for groups from one to four guests, is 290 Euros (about $336), and it’s 45 Euros ($52) per additional guest. Other interactive animal experiences are available at the hotel, such as falconry and beachside horseback-riding. The “Kitchen Coos and Ewes website” states that the farm is closed to tours from February 20 to March and most of November. The farm can host up to 15 people per tour. You can also purchase gift certificates for loved ones who need a big hug from a cow.
