Although the Caribbean Sea’s bright blue and crystal clear waters may attract all kinds of attention, more than a few freshwater lakes rival its most pristine waters when it comes to color and clarity.

Lake Geneva in Switzerland is a beautiful lake. Lake LucerneFor example, their shimmering colours are displayed in the sunlight. You can also find Lake Annecy Lake Winnipeg is located in Canada and Blue Lake is in New Zealand. Lake Tahoe, Crater Lake or Lake George are some of the most popular bodies of water in the U.S. Lake Ouachita may not be as well known, but it’s still a beautiful lake.

Just 10 miles away from the city of Little Rock, Arkansas is located in west-central Arkansas. Hot Springs National ParkThe Ouachita national forest surrounds this 40,000-acre lake. It is famous for its crystal clear, clean water. The name “Ouachita,” pronounced “Wash-ahtaw,” is the French spelling of the Native word “Washita,” The word “Owa Chito” is derived from the Choctaw expression “big hunt”.

Lake Ouachita is a beautiful lake with many facets. It’s relatively undeveloped—homes are not allowed to be built directly on the shoreline—giving it a wild, rugged nature, but the lake itself is manmade. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed the reservoir from 1946 to 1954. It’s one of 3 lakes that were created by damming Ouachita. Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine, its neighbors, are nearby.

The lake is a lot like the Caribbean but has a forest underneath the surface. Even though the water is 200 feet deep at its deepest, it averages 50 feet. However, there are still shallow waters with treetops.

In addition to underwater trees, there are many other species of wildlife in the lake, including freshwater jellyfish and freshwater shrimp. Lake Ouachita is also home to several species of fish, including striped bass and crappie. Anglers can also catch largemouth bass and smallmouth bass.

In addition to fishing, tourists can also enjoy swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. They can also go kayaking or camping. Over 200 islands are located within the lake, where you can find a private, remote campsite. What if you’d prefer something more civilized? Eight cabins are available within Lake Ouachita State Park You can rent a room for an overnight stay.
