LDV Hospitality – the company behind NYC Italian restaurant Scarpetta – has transformed East Hampton’s historic Maidstone Hotel into an all year round boutique retreat. The resort has plenty of amenities—bikes included—and curated pop-ups such as partnerships with brands like Sézane and Ginori.

LDV, the hotel brand behind Scarpetta in NYC, has opened its first project, LDV, at The Maidstone. The Maidstone has retained its familiar whitewashed and shutter-lined aesthetic. The charming veranda leads to 19 newly renovated rooms, cottages, activation spaces and an Italian restaurant run by Scarpetta chef Jorge Espinoza.

Each room and suite in the main home has a unique style, with neutral colors. You’ll find bed throws and chairs in peach or emerald shades, and vintage rotary phones on rattan nightstands. Families will enjoy the privacy and outdoor seating of the cottages in the garden. All rooms come with Frette bed linens and robes, green-piped pajamas from Italian outfitter Schostal, Santa Maria Novella bath amenities, assorted beach gear—East Hampton Beach is a five-minute ride by bike, also provided for guests—and daily continental breakfast.

The restaurant and bar in the lobby is open all day. A sleek marble bar is located inside the hotel. It hosts aperitivo daily from 3 pm to 5 pm. The menu includes coastal Italian dishes like linguine with crabmeat and chili. NeroThe main dining room is adorned with crisp white tablecloths. (Tip: if it’s colder, ask to be seated near the fireplace). Diners can enjoy a spacious and elegant garden in the back, surrounded by twinkling lights.

In 2025, guests can expect some exciting experiences. Vibrant lifestyle sketches from Soho’s Salon 21 art studio will be on display and for sale in the hotel gallery, while historic Florentine brand Ginori1735 will take over the “table store” of the lobby with a collection of fine porcelain. Guest bathrooms are stocked with perfumes from French fashion brand Sézane for a limited time.
