    • It is expensive and difficult to visit some national parks, particularly by plane.
    • Going has published a list that includes the most affordable parks for you to fly into, based off of average airport fares.
    • The average round-trip cost of a flight to a national park near Lake Michigan is $138.

Traveling to a national park this summer might feel like an out-of-budget impossibility—and that might be true if you’re trying to visit one of the most popular parks in the country, like Yellowstone The following are some examples of how to use Yosemite. Booking reservations well in advance can be tricky, but getting to the destination is a bigger challenge. Booking flights to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and Fresno Yosemite International Airport is expensive, but you will still have to drive for hours to get to the parks.

Travelers looking for cheaper and easier ways to visit the national parks in this summer are in for a treat. There are 63 different national parks in the United States. While Yosemite, Yellowstone and other popular spots may be trending on social media sites, there is a much larger list of parks. New data shows that there are several national parks that are affordable to fly to. Going. Going’s analysis of the fares of airports located within 300 miles of national parks and how often it has found deals at each airport determined which park was the most affordable to fly to.

Indiana Dunes National Park is the result of all this number crunching.

The park is only 40 miles from Chicago Midway International Airport and 50 miles from South Bend International Airport and Chicago O’Hare Airport. Going has found that MDW flights average $138 roundtrip. It also sent 42 offers to its subscribers in the last 12 months.

Indiana Dunes National Park is the most affordable national park for travelers. It also has a lot to offer nature lovers of all types. There are 15 miles of dunes along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. More than 50 miles of hiking and biking trails are available, along with swimming beaches, guided tours, horseback rides, bird watching, etc. At least 350 species of birds live in the diverse landscapes of this park. This includes dramatic dunes, prairies and bogs.

You can also find out more about the following: National Park Service has recommended itineraries for half day and day trip visits to the park—making it even easier to add a national park visit to your next trip to Chicago. It is only 45 minutes away from the city, making this one of the easiest national parks to visit.

Want to go to a national park that is even more affordable this summer? According to Going:

    1. Indiana Dunes National Park
    2. White Sands National Park is located in New Mexico
    3. Big Bend National Park, Texas
    4. Guadalupe Mountains National Park is located in Texas
    5. Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located in New Mexico
    6. Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota
    7. Congaree National Park is located in South Carolina
    8. Lassen Volcanic National Park, California
    9. Rocky Mountain National Park is located in Colorado
    10. Grand Canyon National Park Arizona

No matter which national parks you choose to visit this summer, remember to be more patient and respectful than ever. The federal government has reduced staffing, so we must all do our part to maintain the parks’ ecosystems and keep them pristine.
