Medically Needed Liquids

It may seem harmless for you to use protein powder as fuel to power your workouts, or to pack away spices that you bought on a trip overseas. But they could raise questions when scanned by an X ray machine. It is best to inform officers in advance.
“Transportation Security officers appreciate when passengers alert to unusual items like powders, formulas and spice, so they may be best placed to assist in screening before the item or alarm is found, and for a bag-search,” says the spokesperson.
Items that are unusually dense or large

The appearance of a large stack of books, board games, or clusters of electronic devices can be a solid mass that requires a closer inspection. TSA states that the “unpredictable” screening measures are part of their process. This means that even seemingly ordinary items can be flagged. The only thing you can do is remove any electronics larger than your cellphone from the standard lanes.
A spokesperson said: “In standard screening lanes all electronics must removed from carry-on bags for security screening.” TSA PreCheck passengers are allowed to keep their electronic devices in their bags.
Snow Globes and Peanut Butter

It could be a souvenir snow globe. Or even jars or peanut butter. The spokesperson explains that some snow globes are prohibited because they contain liquids larger than 3.4 ounces. This rule covers anything that can spread, spill, spray, pour, or pump, so peanut butter can also fall under this category.
