Travel Foundation is a leading global NGO for sustainable tourism. Three new trustees have joined the team, adding a wealth of experience and expertise.
The Travel Foundation has appointed new trustees:
- Shannon GuihanChief Sustainability Officer of leading tour operator Travel Corporation. Head of TreadRight.
- Charlotte Lamp DaviesA Bright Approach, an international management consultancy, is the founder. It specializes in business strategy, marketing and sales for companies that provide travel technology.
- Natasha Mytton-MillsProfessional with experience in policy development and strategic advocacy.
The Travel Foundation has also welcomed its first ‘Accommodations and Hospitality Advisor’, Claire Whitely Claire is a member of its team. Claire has over 15 years of experience in driving sustainability within the hospitality industry. She worked at Hilton and World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance. Claire will be providing pro-bono guidance to the Travel Foundation. She will contribute to projects and methodologies that ensure best practices.
Jeremy Sampson, Travel Foundation CEO said, “This year marks a pivotal moment for the Travel Foundation as we prepare to take the next steps in our evolution and increase our impact. Our mission is to accelerate the change to a more balanced model of tourism and to play a unique role in supporting others who are leading systemic changes. These new high-calibre additions to our staff are well-positioned to contribute to that end, with the expertise and knowledge to enrich our work.”
There has been some change in the Travel Foundation board of trustees. Helen Marano, Megan Morikawa and Megan Morikawa currently share the role of co-Chair. Jane Ashton is a long-term Trustee and former Sustainability Director for easyJet. She has taken on the role of Vice Chair. Helen Marano remarked on the valuable contribution the new Trustees are expected to make as they serve on the Travel Foundation’s board. “We feel honoured that these individuals want to be part of the team, and help drive the necessary changes for our industry’s health and future.”
Three key priorities of the Travel Foundation in its work on climate changes and inequity are:
- Research and advocacy: highlighting the need for change, showing the way forward, and supporting organisations to take effective action.
- Centre of expertise for developing practical solutions and building capacity to help many more tourism organizations to act.
- Impact partnerships: collaborating with leading organisations to co-create innovative solutions that place our priorities at the centre of the sector’s future.
