The resort was founded in 1996 by Mike Sheofsky (husband) and Kelsey Sheofsky (wife). Shelter CoThe company specializes in luxury tent rentals as well as event production.

The River Electric, located on a 12 acre site near Guerneville and surrounded by redwoods, features 40 fully furnished tents. The accommodations were designed to allow guests to be immersed in the natural environment, but each tent also has modern amenities like WiFi and electricity. The central bathhouse has private and family-sized shower stalls, stocked with customized bath products made by California-based Heliotrope.
The resort also offers two swimming pools located in the center of the property. These are open to guests, day-pass holders and members. The River Electric Swim Club, inspired by European beach clubs, offers a day pass for $32 that includes a lawn chair and chaise lounges. Cabanas are also available to rent.
Dining centers around the Pool Bar, where fresh California flavors meet poolside favorites—think local cod ceviche, vegan Caesar salad, and housemade potato chips with herb dip. The resort offers a kids’ menu that includes classics like root beer floats and soft serve. The River Electric, located in the heartland of wine country collaborated with Healdsburg’s Ruth Lewandowski Wines Custom blends are available for resort guests.
