Method Co. has unveiled their second hotel design for the city in collaboration Morris Adjmi, which combines historic charm and contemporary details.

The Nickel Hotel is the latest project by Method Co. The Nickel Hotel was officially opened on April 1, 2018 by the renowned hospitality company Method Co. The Nickel Hotel is located in Charleston’s historic King Street. In partnership with Morris Adjmi Architecture and Interior Design Studio, New York-based, as well as national realty firm Capital Square.

The Nickel Hotel, a modern boutique hotel in Charleston’s burgeoning Cannonborough district, follows the success of The Pinch. The Nickel Hotel was designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and Method Co.’s own design team, Method Studios. The hotel combines Charleston’s traditional design with modern influences. The Nickel refers also to the property’s 500 block of King Street location and ultimately celebrates a well-spent time.

The lobby is located directly on King Street and features a contemporary interpretation of the interiors of a Southern Townhome. It includes a hand-clipped European Marble mosaic entry sign, an honed gray-and-white checkerboard marble floor and hand painted porcelain on the ceiling and walls. A large antique French tapestry also hangs in this lobby.

In the center of the hotel is the courtyard. It serves as a lush living room where guests can congregate. The courtyard is inspired by the European architecture of Charleston. It features three stories of ornate iron balconies and earthy terracottas. There’s also a wood-burning fire place and a two tiered fountain in the middle. All of this is covered in lush greenery with soft lighting provided by the gas copper lanterns. The Parlour on the third-floor overlooks the courtyard and is a private listening room with vinyl. The club-like space features oak herringbone floor, leather and wood shelving and a private balcony.

The Nickel features a variety of food and beverage outlets, including Bar Daniel on the second-floor, which is named after Daniel Cannon who was a carpenter that founded the Cannonborough neighbourhood. The lounge serves guests all day long, transforming from a quiet space to have an espresso to a vibrant place for cocktails late at night. Rosemary Rose will open its rooftop bar with 360 degree views of Charleston in late-June. Rosemary Rose, inspired by the relaxed lifestyle of the French Riviera, will serve light bites, cocktails, and Moroccan zellige tiles tables in an outdoor area furnished with hacienda style wrought iron furniture. The interior features a custom-designed arched bar, intimate dining and lounge seating, and large windows.

The spacious rooms and suites are designed to make guests feel at home. They feature a full-sized kitchen with Bosch appliances, decorative aged-bronze cabinet hardware and honed honed granite countertops. There is also a dining room, lounge and LG washer/dryer. The beds, sofas and armoires were all custom-designed by Method Studios. Other design elements include Gubi coffee table, herringbone flooring, House of Hackney Wallpaper, and Nordic Knot Scandinavian Rugs. Bathrooms are given a colorful pop with hand-glazed porcelain tiles in an encaustic clover pattern and tonal, green wall tiles. The lush courtyard is available to guests, or the vibrant King Street. Many rooms have balconies.

In the heart of Charleston is the Nickel. This new restaurant, cafe, and boutique will be a popular destination for visitors and locals alike. Cannonborough is known for innovative restaurants, independent boutiques, and cafés.
