    The Mtn Scout Truckee

Gray’s Crossing Hospitality, in partnership with Huff Construction and H-CPM construction project management, announces the groundbreaking of The Mtn Scout Truckee, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. The boutique hotel is located within the Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California, in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This area offers world-class skiing resorts and hiking and biking trails. The hotel is well-positioned to be the social hub of the destination and gateway to outdoor adventures all year round.

The construction of the project will begin following today’s celebration, during which Gray’s Crossing Hospitality’s Matthew Abbate was joined by local officials and Town of Truckee’s Jan Zabriskie. They spoke about how this project would expand the hospitality industry in the area and create new opportunities for tourism. Under the management of PM Hotel Group, the hotel is slated to open in early 2028 as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of over 30 extraordinary hotel brands.

“This hotel serves as both an integral piece of the Village at Gray’s Crossing and a cornerstone of the community, elevating the après scene in Truckee-Tahoe when it opens,” said Gray’s Crossing Hospitality Managing Partner Matthew Abbate. We can’t wait for guests to arrive, together with our partners that share our commitment to reviving the original vision of this development.

Brad Ardis, Huff Construction’s President, stated that “after successfully developing the village at Gray’s together with our partners Abbate Family Verakin the Scout hotel represents the next step in creating an truly complete destination.” This project is a strategic investment for the future of the region and shows our team’s leadership in creating places where people will want to stay, live and thrive.

Stephen Siegel, H-CPM’s Principal, said: “H-CPM looks forward to partnering with the dynamic team of owners on a project which reflects both the values and heart of the ownership and community.” The Scout hotel will provide a warm and welcoming environment where locals as well as visitors can come together, celebrate, and experience a community’s uniqueness for years to follow.

The Mtn Scout Truckee plans include a lobby restaurant and bar, outdoor gathering spaces with firepits, courtyards hot tubs, event halls with gardens and patios. A fitness center and valet equipment storage are also included for guests who wish to explore all the fun activities in the Tahoe Basin. Tunnel 6, the third-floor whiskey bar lounge, pays tribute to pioneers who built the crucial summit tunnel near Truckee that was used by the first transcontinental railway.

Designed by architect Andrew Goodwin Designs (AGD) with interiors and branding by Sixteenfifty Creative Intelligence, the hotel’s visual vocabulary draws upon its distinct mountain environment in the Tahoe Basin, combined with a modern sensibility to seamlessly blend with the surrounding natural landscape and contemporary luxury living at the Village at Gray’s Crossing.

“The Scout hotel embodies a new age of architecture and sustainability that speaks to regionalism first, recognizing the mountain community of Truckee and paying homage to everything this community stands for—past, present and future,” said AGD Architect and Founder Andrew Goodwin, AIA. “AGD takes pride in working on projects which advance these principles to the next generation through excellent service and design,” said AGD Architect and Founder Andrew Goodwin, AIA.

Rob Wells, founder of Sixteenfifty, said, “We worked with the owner to distill a vision and translate it into authentic touches throughout the design. We wanted to tell the story about Truckee’s vibrant culture, epic adventures, and scenic beauty, while respecting the history and heritage.” It is the perfect getaway from a nonstop life, ideally located to discover all that Truckee’s and the Tahoe Basin has to offer.

The Village at Gray’s Crossing, nestled in the Sierra Nevada pines, brings the serenity and seclusion of seclusion to Truckee luxury living. It also brings the energy of a vibrant community. The Mtn Scout Truckee is just one of 24 luxury modern mountain homes and affordable housing units in the neighborhood. Residents have access to resort amenities including a championship course, dining, community trails and green space. Future developments are planned.
