Now it is easier than ever to see where we rank in comparison with other countries. The report 2025 reveals that US is dead last in terms of guaranteed paid annual leave and paid public holidays. The US is far behind European countries in terms of paid leave. While some companies are more generous, the US as a whole falls well behind. Italy, Spain, France, GreeceCyprus and.

    Across the pond, UK bank holidays are a part of statutory paid leave, and Moorepay’s report classifies all 28 days as “paid annual leave days”—meaning the UK comes 10th in the world behind countries including Togo, France, and Bahrain.

    Yemen has the highest paid leave in the world, with 46 days total. Workers are entitled to 30 days paid annual leave and 16 days paid public holidays. The total paid leave workers receive over the course of the year is only $108 based on their average salary.

    Below, we’ve crunched the numbers and rounded up the Europe-specific data—these are the countries with the most paid time off.
