How to get there
The closest major airports to La Crosse are Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), which is 215 miles away, and Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) in Minnesota, about 150 miles away. If you fly into one of these airports, expect a 2- to 3-hour drive. My favorite option is to fly into the smaller Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin and then drive 2.5 hours along I-90, the Great River Road, and through Wisconsin’s Driftless Region. The Great River Road follows the Mississippi River and offers scenic landscapes for photo opportunities.
