Why we love it Breakfast, tennis courts, saltwater infinity pools
Villa Santanyi – named after a fishing village that it is built in – reminds me Yves Saint Laurent’s Museum in Marrakech—from the hushed tones of reverence to its exterior’s soft shades of pink that, depending on the sun’s position in the sky, turn terra-cotta, peach, ochre, and orange in turn. Designed by Claudio Silvestrin John Pawson is credited with introducing modern minimalism to the architectural vocabulary of today. The villa features angular walls, a light and shadow design, high ceilings and low furniture. The 130-foot-long infinity pool and sunken saltwater tennis court are situated among an olive and almond grove. It’s warm enough in summer to sleep on top of the house under the stars. A house manager is on hand to take care of everything you would rather not do when you are on holiday. This includes preparing meals. breakfasts Fruit, fresh bread, granola and tortillas. —Anna Prendergast
