    • GoBankingRates has ranked Maplewood as the best small town in America to retire.
    • The community is a suburb in St. Louis with a score of 87 on a 100-point scale. Monthly expenses are estimated at $2,810.
    • Two towns in Pennsylvania round out the top three—Sharpsburg in second and Brentwood in third.

    As you approach retirement, there are many questions and responsibilities. For example, how can your dollar go further to allow you to live your golden years? You may have to relocate somewhere else in order to achieve this. just like over a quarter of a million Americans Did in 2024?

    GoBankingRates published its list of the best rates in January. the best small towns to retire in the U.S. The company said that these small communities, with populations between 1,000-10,000 residents, were ranked on the basis of their cost and rent, crime rate, and overall livability. GoBankingRates describes them as “the kind of place where you relax on your porch, or find that an encounter with your neighbor in the townsquare becomes a late night catching up.”

    Maplewood, Missouri is located eight miles west from St. Louis. GoBankingRates reports that the monthly cost of Maplewood’s living is $2 810 and its livability is 87. 

    Maplewood’s population is only 8,073 – a close-knit, small community. And while retirees are surely welcome—about 10 percent of its population is aged 65 and over—AreaVibes It was noted that “Maplewood would be an ideal place for young students and adults, as the age average of 33 is lower than the national average.”

    On AreaVibes, the community is ranked No. AreaVibes ranks the community No. 1 in the entire state and among the top 10% of all cities. It received an A+ in cost of living, education and housing.Zillow The median home value is estimated to be $257.573, and the employment grade is B. 

    Maplewood is a place with roots going back to the late 1700sAs St.Louis grew so did its town. By 1896, it was accessible via electric streetcar. Today, residents and visitors can walk through the historic downtown of Maplewood, which is lined with shops, restaurants, and other businesses. Downtown Maplewood was the first downtown in the United States. Green Dining DistrictBusinesses that promote sustainable practices, such as serving local, fresh produce, reducing trash, composting and recycling, are a good example.

    Brentwood and Alamo Heights, Texas, are the other top cities that made GoBankingRates’ list. Alamo Heights and Riverdale are the two other best small towns in which to retire.
