Fiji It’s not just a destination for those who love the beach. There are many other things to do in Hawaii. You can find a family-friendly vacation or a romantic retreat. scuba diving If you’re looking for a unique island with a particular cultural or historical connection, this area has it. What’s the best part? This area has many wonderful hotels, and most have their own private charters or helicopters.

There are more than 300 islands in the Fiji archipelago, so it can seem daunting to pick one—but it doesn’t have to be. After more than 20 years of curating Fiji bespoke trips, these are my top choices for all types of travelers.

    For Private Luxury

The Seagrass Villa in Como Laucala.

    COMO Laucala

Don’t miss Como Laucala IslandThe island is a hideaway that’s in a class of its own. The resort, which can be reached by private aircraft and the resort fleet, is spread over just under 3,000 acres. It has 25 residences, each with a panoramic view, private pool, and a high level of personalized service. Farm-to-table cuisine, a luxurious spa, and a variety of experiences are available to guests. These include golf, horseback, mountain biking, water sports, and more.

Vatuvara Private Islands Resort is located on Kaibu Island which has an area of 800 acres. Dolphin Island is a 14 acre island, tucked away just north from Viti Levu (Fiji’s largest Island). These resorts, which cater to only six and eight guests each, are perfect for a tropical getaway with friends or family.

    For Families

Sunset Villa, a three-bedroom villa at Kokomo Private Island Resort.

    Kokomo Private Island Resort

If you are traveling with children, teens, grandchildren, or any combination of these, Kokomo Private Island—just an hour-long air transfer from Nadi International Airport on Kokomo’s own aircraft—has something for guests of all ages. Each of the island’s residences with three to six bedrooms, and their own private pool, is ideal for family vacations that include multiple generations.

Active travelers can participate in coral restoration, swim with mantas rays or scuba dive on the Great Astrolabe Reef. Relax with sunrise yoga, sunset cocktail or a customized treatment in their spa. Kokomo offers a Kids Club and Teens Club as well as complimentary nanny service for its youngest guests.

    For a romantic getaway

Royal Davui, an island resort south of Viti Levu that has recently been reimagined, offers a unique, intimate experience for adults only. The property was refurbished in 2024 to celebrate its 20th birthday. This included the addition of modern furniture and private plunge pools for the 16 villas. Other options include tranquil Tokoriki Island—often a winner in T+L’s annual World’s Best Awards—with its thatch-roofed villas, and Likuliku Lagoon Resort. This resort has overwater bungalows and a private island where couples can picnic. It also offers the Likuliku Lagoon for guests to reserve customized experiences.

    For Wellness and Adventure

Relax at Six Senses Fiji’s spa.

    Six Senses Fiji

In the western Mamanuca Islands, Six Senses Fiji offers surfing lessons for every level—and it’s just minutes away from Cloudbreak, a reef pass often recognized as one of the most challenging surf breaks in the world. After surfing, guests may enjoy spa treatments, such as heated massages with lava-shells, wellness packages tailored to their needs, and daily Yoga sessions.

Scuba divers, on the other hand, will appreciate Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort’s easy access to Namena Marine reserve—the largest no-take coral reserve in Fiji—and Royal Davui Island Resort’s proximity to Beqa Lagoon, where thrill-seekers can dive with sharks. Como Laucala Island or Vomo Island are two other Fiji luxury resorts that offer dive certifications and courses.

    Cultural Immersion

Enjoy a Pontoon Dinner on Turtle Island Fiji.

    Turtle Island Fiji

Tennis courts and televisions are not available. Turtle IslandA family-owned retreat in the Yasawa Group Archipelago, is a perfect example of laidback, barefoot luxury. The resort offers guests the opportunity to experience and participate in local customs, such as ceremonies celebrating Fiji’s National Drink, Kava, or feasts prepared using a lovo – a traditional oven.

How to see the world in the Best way

Chartering a superyacht is the best way to see all Fiji has on offer. This way, you’ll have a tailored itinerary, providing the freedom to explore several Fijian islands—including some of the most remote and pristine corners of this idyllic archipelago. Travelers can experience the best of Fiji aboard luxury ships, such as the Rua-Moana or the Sea Eagle. They can eat chef-prepared food, enjoy movie nights and water sports, while learning about the more hidden parts of the country, including the Sawa-i-Lau limestone caves and the lush rainforests of Taveuni.
