This is the only answer I have given to “What book should I be reading next?” This is the only answer I can give to this question: “What book should I next read?” Matriarch. It’s been a while since I recommended a novel so highly. I’ve recommended this book to people who normally avoid biographies by promising that it feels different. I’ve pushed it to audiobook lovers, knowing Tina Knowles’s narration—raw when she speaks about her mother’s death, hilarious when she recalls her days as “Bad Ass Tenie B”—adds a whole new layer.

Knowles’ story will inspire, motivate, or make you feel more seen, no matter where you are as a woman. Her reflections about motherhood, ambitions, heartbreaks, and reinvention are delivered with honesty and intent. What makes this book unforgettable is how she turns her personal history into something universal—wisdom and stories usually meant for her family, but resonant for anyone still finding their way.

Matriarch The book didn’t just make me feel; it made me grounded. This is why I think it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. —Paris WilsonCommerce Writer
