The Library Bar
The Library Bar Inside Copenhagen Plaza hotelThe “cool” of CPH is not what you’d expect to find in this club, which is located next to Central Station. It’s more about the history, jazz and wood-paneled walls. Think Chesterfield armchairs, gold-framed oil paintings of nobility, vaulted high ceilings, and you’re there—it’s more old-fashioned gentlemen’s club than funky. Here, cigars, whiskey, champagne, cognac and other alcoholic beverages are on the menu. Smoking is only allowed if the weather permits. The menu includes cocktails like the “Midnight Ranger” and “Tuxedo,” made by mixologists dressed in freshly ironed shirts. Ruby
Ruby The restaurant has established itself as a landmark in Copenhagen. The hotel is located opposite the city’s Parliament buildings. Thorvaldsens museum (dedicated the art of Danish and Icelandic Ruby’s townhouse is reminiscent of bygone eras. Stories have been told, and drinks have been enjoyed—in fact Danish Spirit Producers (Det Danske Spiritus Kompagni) was founded in the bar area way back in 1882. The decor is simple and cozy with a back bar area that showcases a few Danish artworks in neutral colors. The focus of the current decor are the leather-aproned bartenders and the wide range of spirits available. The “Butt Naked Old Fashioned”, topped off with cacao butter is a favourite. Mixologists also create seasonal drinks. Copenhagen’s history is evident.
Café Intime
Café Intime The old-school jazz glamour is palpable. In 2022 it celebrated its 100th anniversary, and the walls of this venue are filled with a century’s worth of live music and gossip. The venue opened in the 1960s with private booths that were locked and tended to by a discreet server. It was a place for the alternative, bohemians, and other types of people to meet without judgement. A grand piano and stained-glass windows greet you at the entrance. Regulars have shared stories that are breathtaking glimpses into an era gone by. It has even been used to launch stage career. It is a beloved institution in the LGBTQ+ communities of London. A good selection of European draft beers is available, but it’s the classic cocktails that shine, including not-for-the-faint-hearted Manhattans, Long Island Iced Tea, and the Pick Me Up.
