AirTag Holders: Tips on Buying Them
AirTag is a great way to track your travels.
Think about where and how you will use the AirTag accessory before purchasing it. Will you attach the AirTag to your luggage, throw it in a purse, or slide it into a wallet. Ideal for luggage are sturdy keychain holders with strong clips. For your keys, you should look for compact, sturdy key ring holders. Choose slim inserts for wallets, passports or other small items. They won’t bulk up or fall off easily.
AirTags can be purchased in a variety of quantities.
You can track your luggage, wallets, bikes, pets, and backpacks. AirTags can be purchased individually or in four-packs. If you are planning to tag multiple items, buying the multipack will save you money. Remember that you will need different holders for every item. For example, key rings are great for keys, but adhesive mounts work well for remotes and bikes. Slim inserts can be used for passports or wallets.
Buy extra batteries
AirTags already come with a pre-installed battery, but it is a good idea have extras for when the original one runs out. AirTags are powered by a CR2032 battery that is easily found online or in most drugstores. It’s time for a new battery when you see red alerts in Find My.
To remove the battery, twist and press the stainless steel backing. If the new batteries aren’t connecting right away, you can remove any residue by wiping a cotton ball with rubbing alcool.
Common Questions
-
How do I attach AirTags?
Use a strong adhesive to attach the AirTag securely to items without key rings or loops, such as remote controls, bicycles, or camera equipment. Use industrial-strength, double-sided tapes such as Gorilla TapeThe adhesive is weather resistant and works best on flat, smooth surfaces. AirTags can be taped directly to an object or in a low-profile container. To ensure a good grip, clean the surface before you tape. Avoid placing it near surfaces that can be damaged by heat or impact.
-
AirTag holders: When are they necessary?
AirTags have an IP67 rating, meaning they are splash-, dust- and water-resistant but not waterproof. If you want to attach one to a suitcase or other item that could get wet, it’s a good idea use a protective holder. AirTag holders not only help you attach it securely, but also protect it from moisture, dirt and scratches. They extend its life span and keep it working reliably.
-
How many AirTags can you sync on one device?
As of iOS 16, you can pair up to 32 items — including AirTags and other Find My-compatible accessories — with a single Apple ID. This is an increase over the previous limit of 16 items, allowing you to track more belongings.
Some devices can be counted as multiple items. AirPods Max, for example, count as one product, while AirPods, the first-generation AirPods Pro, and AirPods count as two. The second-generation AirPods Pro takes up three slots. You may not have enough room if you’ve already got a few Apple products linked. This still leaves room for most people.
