Swiss International Air Lines just announced a brand new concept of first and business class cabins that will be featured on its new Airbus A350 aircraft. The new seats feature high-tech upgrades as well as privacy sliding door. They will debut on flights from Boston to Zurich in January 2026. according to the airline.
Heike Birlenbach, Swiss Chief commercial officer and spokesperson for the Swiss airline industry, said that “our new seats are the center of our new aircraft’s cabins” in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure. “But [the design] appeals to all the senses–with its special lighting concept, for instance, and also with our new scent that has been specially created for SWISS.”
Birlenbach stated in a release that “the new cabins offer passengers an even more personalized, exclusive and personal air travel experience.”
The new suites in first class, revealed by the airline on Tuesday, have French-style sliding door with wood finishes. Wireless charging is also available, as well as an ultra-wide screen for entertainment that spans the length of the suite. Seats are also pieces of technology, with in-seat cooling and heating to allow for personalized temperature control. The center suite is designed to accommodate up to two passengers.
Business class seats in the new cabin have sliding doors to provide privacy and direct aisle access. The new lie-flat seats in business class have a smaller profile than first class but feature the same heating and cooling technologies.
Even the airline’s economy seats are getting an upgrade, with what Swiss calls “considerably greater at-seat room” and a high-resolution 13-inch entertainment screen.
Swiss announced that after its initial US launch on flights from Boston to Washington, it plans to expand the new cabin design onto additional routes.
