Splendido A Belmond Hotel will reopen its doors on June 7, 2025. This much anticipated grand reopening marks the beginning of a new era in splendor, following an exceptional renovation by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, a world-renowned design studio. The 16th century Benedictine monastery turned glamorous sanctuary reveals a magnificent reimagination that takes the hotel to new heights. Paying tribute to the building’s heritage and reviving the spirit of La Dolce Vita, the hotel showcases the finest Ligurian craftsmanship with a contemporary twist — reaffirming Splendido’s status as the legendary Grand Dame of the Italian Riviera. Splendido is introducing a new Baratta Sedici that captures Portofino’s glamorous spirit, along with the newly renovated rooms, suites and restaurants. The first permanent Dior Spa will also be opening in Italy this summer. Belmond is also launching Villa Beatrice on 29 June. This magnificent private summer residence with a view of the sea will further strengthen its legacy in Portofino’s enchanting enclave.

Splendido’s newly reimagined Lobby welcomes guests with a timeless feeling of place. The masterful interplay of Ligurian history and contemporary elegance can be seen in the wealth of local artisanal products, from botanical frescoes and bespoke design features made with Carrara Marble, Graniglia alla Genovese or locally sourced Lavagna Stone. Traditional materials anchor the renovation to authenticity while elevating guest experience through a sense palatial grandeur.
BARATTA SEDICI
Baratta Sedici is at the core of this new chapter. The new bar, which is a destination in itself, will be Splendido’s vibrant social epicenter. A refined expression of Ligurian traditions, craftsmanship, and nature are combined to create a characterful yet elegant space. A hand-painted mural of delicate vines, cascading foliage and other plants is painted on whitewashed wall, which takes inspiration from the lush surroundings at Splendido. Warm terracottas, rich greens, and blond woods add warmth and depth to the white onyx bar. The space features bespoke furniture handcrafted by artisans from Genova to Venice and Florence to Milan.
The Baratta Sedici curated menu celebrates the place with a selection of inspired cocktails. Highlights include La Vela, A blend of Portofino, Campari Amaro Camatti Pineo and Campari. U Chef, a bold cocktail featuring Portofino Gin with tomato centrifuge sauce, horseradish, lemon juice and Seven Pod Indian Pepper. A distinguished selection of vintage spirits and wines complements these artisanal cocktail creations, completing a sophisticated offering. Culinary excellence is at the heart of every Splendido experience, epitomised by the renowned La Terrazza fine dining restaurant and the elegant Splendido Grill. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Corrado Corti, both venues have thrived for more than two decades. The menus honour the rich culinary heritage of the region and celebrate the best seasonal ingredients.
NEW SUITES – DOLCE VITA SPLENDOUR
The spirit of Italian craftsmanship, elegance and comfort are evident in all the newly designed rooms and suites. The refined interiors and ornate touches of the rooms are inspired by the rich design traditions of the region. They elevate each room into a tranquil and sumptuous refuge. Midollino Weave inspired by Chiavari Rattan lends a tactile warmth and elegance to the headboards and side tables. Albissola Ceramics add a touch of handcrafted, traditional elegance. The furnishings sourced at local estate sales or auctions tell the story of heritage. Some items have been restored and painted with a Genoese-style. Splendido’s residential, multi-layered approach maintains its intimate, evocative and unmistakably Italian feel.
The Baronessa Suite was designed to resemble the drawing room of an Italian aristocrat who has traveled extensively. La Baronessa is brought to life through a curation of curios, antiques and objects – featuring a private-entrance garden with direct access to the hotel’s panoramic pool and a vast terrace with astonishing views of the Gulf of Portofino. The hotel has a feminine, romantic feel with touches of pink, floral motifs and traditional laces, as well as playful touches like shell-shaped wall lighting.

Splendido is proud to announce the opening of Italy’s first Dior Spa. This exclusive collaboration brings together two icons of elegance. The indoor-outdoor spa is located on the second level of the hotel and offers an outdoor wellness experience inspired by nature.
