US: Hospitality development and management company Raines is set to open The Lantern Hotel Columbia (a 59-key hotel) in Columbia’s Vista neighbourhood in autumn 2025.
The Woven lifestyle portfolio will include the hotel, which will be built in the historic firehouse of the city.
The Lantern is scheduled to open its doors in 2025. It will offer employment and training opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This partnership is with the University of South Carolina’s CarolinaLIFE Programme.
Students from USC’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management are also involved in the operations, and the hotel is positioned to be a destination for inclusive hospitality that is purpose-led.
Kevin Johnson, a USC alumnus and James Beard Foundation Award winner, will be leading the Ladder 13 restaurant.
Raines The development is being led by Garvin Design Group, Mashburn Construction and Mashburn Construction.
Grey Raines, managing partner of the company, said: “When we look back at our years of hospitality experience and the relationships that we have built over the past decades, this one feels a little different.” The Lantern can impact lives.
The Lantern Rock Hill is scheduled to open its second location in the autumn of 2026.
