Getting around on two wheels has long been my preferred mode of travel—both at home and when exploring a new destination. After riding electric bikes exclusively for the past few years, after owning various bikes for over 20 years and exclusively riding the self powered variety, I am now a convert. The pedal assist of my ebike has helped me navigate traffic and cover more distance when I am exploring a new location. I like that electric bikes can be used by all kinds of cyclists and are a more sustainable alternative to driving.
The electric bike is one of the most popular models. Priority Current Plus The long-lasting power and the thrill of speed that it provides, along with automated safety and a relaxed riding posture are my favorites. The large size is only 55 pounds, and it can be used with any hitch rack. road trips. After riding for months, I have analyzed and highlighted the performance of this e-bike and its standout features. I also listed some other electric bikes that I would recommend to travelers.

Key Features
Wide Range of Speeds and Extended Range
Electric bikes can be classified into two categories: mopeds with a lot of power or bikes that look like regular bikes but have modest pedal assist. With its large battery, powerful motor and 5-speed gearing system, the Current Plus is a great middle ground. It can sprint at high speeds, or go long distances at a slower pace.
The 500W motor has a top speed up to 28 mph and the 720Wh lithium-ion battery can provide 75 miles of pedal assistance at level 1. Both pieces of hardware have been neatly integrated into the frame of the bike for both aesthetics and weight. Keep in mind that an ebike is delivered as a Class 2 (maximum speed of 20mph) but the settings need to be updated to Class 3 (maximum speed of 28mph). Check local laws before updating the settings.
The pedal assist levels 1 and 2 have proven to be sufficient for riders on gentler terrain. The mid-weight bike’s speed can be increased by changing to a faster gear without having to pedal more. Usually, when approaching an incline, I can shift between the 5 gears without having to turn up the pedal support beyond level 3.
Priority also added a throttle—positioned on the left handlebar—to rapidly gain speed or cruise along without any pedaling power. The throttle is responsive and can be used in short bursts for accelerating from a stop or for maneuvering around other cyclists or traffic. It’s true that using it continuously will drain the battery quickly, but I found that only occasionally using it had a noticeable impact on the battery.

Comfortable and Ergonomic Design
The relaxed upright position and pedal assist make the Current Plus an enjoyable bike to ride. I’m 6ft 5in tall and found it easy to adjust the seat post and handlebar stem on my bike. The large size is available, although it’s also offered in medium and smaller sizes. The handlebars I’ve tested are among the most comfortable and ergonomically designed that I’ve ever seen. Priority describes the handlebars as having a “17 degree back sweep and 20mm rise” but I would like to highlight how the tapered, tilted profile provides a more comfortable grip. I felt in greater control and did not feel any pressure or strain in my hands.

It is also more plush and comfortable than a typical gel-padded saddle. bike seat This is also included and has been sufficient for long rides without wearing. padded bike shorts. Although this provides some cushioning against road bumps, some front wheel suspension is desirable as a future improvement.

Automatic Safety Features and Intuitive controls
I like that the Current Plus comes with user-friendly controls, and many integrated safety features. It allows me to concentrate on the road ahead and enjoy the passing scenery. Even on a sunny day, the backlit display makes it easy to read. I like the fact that it gives priority to the information I use most often: the pedal assistance level, battery remaining life, and speed.
The “i” button located on the left control allows you to toggle between various information including trip distance, average and top speed, and odometer. The controls are simple and easy to use. I like the large buttons that allow me to increase or decrease the pedal assistance, or turn on the headlights, without taking my eyes off of the road.
I can also have the automatic light settings turn on my headlights. They are bright enough to illuminate the road ahead and ensure you’re seen by traffic. Braking automatically switches on your taillights and cuts off the motor. As you brake, the red LEDs will also become brighter.

Final Thoughts
The quality of the materials and components in the Current Plus has always impressed me. Along with the features already mentioned, I’m also impressed by the quality of the aluminum frame and kickstand.
After several months of usage, I can say that the front and back mudguards are doing a good job in keeping my bike and me clean. I tried the Shimano gearing system with five speeds, designed specifically for electric bikes. It offers seamless shifting. Enviolo’s version has an automatic system with a continuous range of gears that shifts whether you pedal or not. Both gear systems have a carbon-belt drive, which does not require lubrication like a traditional chain drive.
