Le Pavillon has been a Premier partner for many years. Built in 1907 on the register Historic Hotels of AmericaPremier was originally commissioned to lead the extensive renovations of the property from 2015 through 2019, restoring its historic 118 year-old status and reestablishing it as a luxury destination in New Orleans. Premier has been tasked with leading the ambitious conversion from the independent, iconic property into a Tribute Collection boutique soft-branded Hotel, starting in 2020. As part of this $19 million renovation, Premier was responsible for modernizing the lobby, bar and destination restaurant as well as 226 guestrooms.
Premier’s conversion Le Pavillon into a Tribute Portfolio Hotel created additional value for Ashford Hospitality Trust. Premier designed six unique and premium suites to set the hotel apart. They were inspired by the iconic New Orleans motifs. The Big Easy. The Napoleon Suite is one of many suites that are a maximum expression of French Colonial Regency in the French Quarter. The bathroom features ornately gilded vanity, marble countertops, checkered floor, and a large Carrera Marble bathtub with a stained-glass panel over it. The tub was reputedly once owned by the French Emperor. The Frenchman Suite pays homage to New Orleans as the home of America’s musical heritage with a babygrand piano and a feature wall decorated with classic vinyl records, concert playbills, and sheet music from the nearby Frenchman Street jazz and blues club. Elsewhere, The Bourbon Suite – furnished with tufted leather sofas and wing chairs, antler chandeliers, and a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf – exudes classic luxury with a contemporary flair in homage to Bourbon Street’s origins, while The St. Charles Suite – with picture frame molded wall treatments, crystal chandeliers, and modern silver and glass furniture – captures a stylish expression of classic French chateau charm.
Premier’s Corporate Engineering team and Project Management made it possible to build the suites. This included assembling smaller rooms on different floors into larger ones.
Premier’s design “Turns history on its back” With a modern interpretation New Orleans’ French Colonial splendor
Premier’s creative fusion of traditional and modern elements was the key to Le Pavillon New Orleans conversion’s success. Régence Period The Tribute Portfolio is defined by its contemporary luxury aesthetic. The vision of the Tribute Portfolio is to create a destination that offers a contemporary luxurious aesthetic. “Turn the history on its side”Premier’s Interior Design Team has successfully incorporated antique furniture into 19The th We used reclaimed and 20th-century European art, as well as a variety of global sourced building materials to update the historic hotel. The result was a collection subtly ostentatious rooms imbued in the French Quarter colonial style, expressed through a luxurious narrative and contemporary aesthetic that captured the authentic New Orleans experience.
Accents define the space in the lobby. Gold friezes frame the recessed ceilings above a mixture of tufted antiques and contemporary furniture, which pop-off a background of white matte walls and ceilings. The dramatic white columns anchor the built-in furniture while lush rugs in deep purples and golds define the spaces of this lobby. Crystal chandeliers that have an avant-garde feel highlight the hotel’s French Colonial style. The lobby also features a mix of modern art and original Claude Lorrain works from the 1600’s. “French Colonial meets Modern” The hotel’s design program. The curated collection includes many artworks that are inverted. “Turning the history on its back”, Premier’s hotel design is highlighted.
Bar 1803, located in the lobby of the hotel, is a destination all its own. Inspired by the rich color and layered complexity of the Sazerac – the ruby-hued cocktail born in NOLA nearly two centuries ago – Premier’s design program effectively creates a luxurious speakeasy that authentically serves as the cocktail’s spiritual home. Every wall is covered with floor-to ceiling velvet drapery, in shades of amber, cream, and ruby. Custom rope lights add a sultry feel, and slate-colored, framed by cream, and merlot marbles, the floor. The venue’s lenticular artwork is named after the year Napoleon purchased Louisiana. It features two sides of the Louisiana Purchase. The Little Emperor – a “serious” Napoleon and a “spirited” Napoleon – anchors the space behind the bar.
Le Pavillon’s modern expressions of French Colonial opulence continue in the guestrooms. The rooms may be individually designed and slightly different from one another, but common design elements help to unify guest experiences from room to room. The king-sized rooms feature tufted leather headboards and molded feature walls that are painted with French Romantic paintings in a room-wide avant garde expression. Recessed ceilings are painted to match the soft furnishings. In larger rooms, original 19th century Rococo Revival beds – many manufactured by famed woodworker C. Lee and some featuring canopies draped in velvet and corduroy – literally envelope guests in the lavish design program. In the bathroom, French Louis style framed mirrors and fabric walls in fleur-delis patterns are used to extend the interior design into private spaces.
