    Populus Hotels, a carbon-positive hotel collection committed to environmentally responsible hospitality, has announced the upcoming opening of its second property—Populus Seattle—set to welcome guests in late spring 2025. The new hotel, located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, is a transformational adaptive reuse project which breathes new energy into the 1907 Westland Building. It offers 120 rooms, and a guest-experience deeply rooted in Pacific Northwest spirit.

    Populus Seattle was designed as part of an overall vision to anchor a major adaptive reuse project in the US. It is meant to reflect Seattle’s rich ecological heritage and honor its urban heritage. Its design elements—interior spaces, curated art, and rooftop gardens—draw from the region’s landscapes, materials, and textures, aiming to provide a balanced atmosphere where sustainability and aesthetics meet.     Populus Seattle’s distinctiveness is its carbon positive designation—it sequesters more carbon than it emits over its full lifecycle, including construction and daily operations. This is achieved through a combination adaptive reuse, carbon offsetting strategies, renewable energy use, and innovative waste reduction techniques, like its use of BioGreen360 for food composting. Populus Seattle has become a leading example of hospitality that supports broader environmental goals.

    While the hotel’s eco-strategies set a new bar, it is not the only one. Guest experience is at the core Offering. Business and leisure travelers will both be attracted by the thoughtfully designed rooms and suites. Immersive public spaces, food and beverage programs based on local sourcing, sustainability, and immersive public areas. Salt Harvest is the signature restaurant and will feature hearth-driven dishes. The Solarium rooftop bar and The Solarium lobby lounge are aimed at becoming key social destinations in the city.

This makes it an appealing option for locals and international tourists.
